This study supported the findings of the 1099 cases study and added more definition to questions of who is vulnerable and how many cases are severe.
The case death rate (deaths among the entire sample of those infected) was 2.3% for this group.
The most vulnerable group, those older than 80 years, had a death rate of 14.8%. Children were spared and the case death rate of 10 to 39 year olds was .2%. Persons having no additional medical conditions had a death rate of .9%
80.9% of the infection cases were Mild. The majority of the 1, 023 deaths were persons older than 60 years old. More men than women were infected and twice as many men died as women, 2.8% men, and 1.7% women. N=72,314. The data represented those cases through February, 11th, 2020. The entire N included cases of suspected infected, and asymptomatic infected. The Severe group consisted of 14% of cases. The Critical group consisted of 5% of cases.
Conclusion: The majority of infected cases were Mild. Older persons were most affected and younger persons were spared. More men, 653, than women, 370, died as a result of the infections.
